"I would love to welcome Dirk at Feyenoord as soon as possible. He fits in here more than anybody else," Van Geel said. "He is more than welcome at the club. However, I do not think that it's realistic to believe that he could return this summer."
Kuyt's contract with LFC expires in June 2014, and it's possible he could remain with the club through next season. For six years, the dependable Dutchman was a mainstay in the Liverpool team. But this season has seen him lose his status as an automatic starter. Although he hasn't publicly complained about playing less, he is believed to be considering his future.
Kuyt enjoyed a successful spell at Feyenoord from 2003-06. His impressive scoring record -- 60 goals in 83 Eredivisie games -- earned him a call-up to the Dutch national team and a £10 million ($15.9 million) move to Anfield.
Feyenoord sporting director Martin van Geel told NUsport the club would gladly welcome its former star back to the field at De Kuip.
"Feyenoord know that Dirk will join them once he returns to Netherlands. But when? It's impossible to answer that question," Rob Jansen said. "We are just waiting to see what happens at Liverpool now and what's coming his way. We will make a decision on his future after that."
Dirk Kuyt has played over 200 times for Liverpool FC in the Premier League. But a piece of his heart still remains at Feyenoord Rotterdam.
Kuyt is still an important part of the playing squad at Liverpool. His goals in the Carling Cup final and FA Cup quarterfinal win over Manchester United solidified his status as a hero to LFC supporters around the world. His return ticket from English soccer has no date, but it appears the destination has been set.

Kuyt's agent revealed the veteran forward plans to return to the Dutch club one day. But he refused to say when that would happen, according to Sky Sports.
